An ODE to LOST friendship?
Last day.
It's time to be apart. We shake hands, hugged each other. Tears flow, unconditionally. Everything seems very dull and sadness is all we shared at the moment. And then, the last words..
"Hope we will meet again, some day, some time... "
"Don't ever forget me. "
"Don't change. I like the way you are now."
"Friendship lasts forever."
"How I'm going to live without you."
"Goodbye.."
Ten or maybe 20 years later.
We meet again. Believe it or not, it's not as the same as before. You look different, and so is your friend. The truth is, we're all changed. Maybe it's just physical. But can you accept if the one you know really, really changed. They don't seem to know you anymore. Especially when it involves a conflict of interest. And the reunion turns sour. All you want to do now is to forget all those memories...damn
Friendship last forever? It may be lasting. But forever, we'll have to survive the test of time. As pepatah Melayu says; "Jauh di mata, dekat di hati". Heck, it may turn otherwise...
